We are again taking reservations for BARC Skate sessions! Reserve your spot with Signup Genius. No drop-in sessions allowed. No waiting inside. Masks and temperature checks required. OPEN WED-SUN 11 AM to 7 PM. Minors must have a parental waiver signed at the first visit. All visitors must complete a sign-in waiver and liability sheet.
Vashon Park District plans to resume a limited opening of BARC Skatepark starting Friday, January 29th. This is a reservation-only system and all reservations must be made online.
VPD places safety above all else to those visiting our parks and using our facilities, and to the residents of Vashon Island during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help keep everyone safe we will be following Washington State’s Phases as we reopen. Our current phase, Stage 2, allows for indoor exercise with limited capacity.
To accommodate this, we will be using anonline reservation system that allows only two users in the facility at a time with restricted ramp use and up to four youth + one adult for Household Skates. Single skaters are not allowed during Household Skate sessions and a shared household is required.
Reservation time slots will be made available each Friday at noon for the next week. We may need to limit the number of allowed reservations per week if demand exceeds availability.
At this time, usage continues to be free of charge and time slots will be for 45 minutes. Expect procedures to change as we gain experience.
BARC Skate Park's New Procedures:
Follow the link below from our website to the Signup Genius reservation site. Register for either the North or South ramps. Only one skater per ramp to ensure social distancing is followed.
Enter all required information and submit.
Each session is 45 minutes. Users must not arrive early and are not permitted in the facility until met by the attendant at the front gate. Each user agrees to have their temperature checked, provide ID, and use sanitizer at entering the building.
At the end of the session, users will exit through the back exit. Users who do not leave promptly at the end of their session will be barred from future reservations as the attendants need time to sanitize after each reservation.
No more than 2 sessions per day allowed to give others a chance to skate.
Family use: There will be special timeslots for household members. These are limited to only people from the same household, i.e. 4 youth + 1 (required adult). The attending adult must attest to the shared household and anyone found breaking this rule may be denied future use of the facility.
Helmets continue to be required for all users under 18 and helmets and pads are recommended for everyone, regardless of age.
We are not currently able to loan out equipment (helmets, pads, boards, etc.) so please bring your own.
BARC Skate Park Waivers must be signed before you are allowed to skate. If you are a minor, your parent or guardian must accompany you at first check-in. Once we have verification the waiver will be kept on file for future use. We encourage you to complete these ahead of time and bring them with you to limit exposure risk.

B.A.R.C. is one of the Park District's most unique properties, and it's improving all the time with the help of a team of volunteer stewards. The Park District hopes to turn B.A.R.C. into "THE" alternative park for all. The Master Plan tells most of the story, including plans for additional outdoor skate features, an improved disc golf course, and improved BMX bike trails. That said, the Burton Adventure Recreation Center is impressive as it stands with an indoor inline skating facility, an outdoor skate bowl, disc golf course, and a challenging trail system for BMX bike enthusiasts in addition to a community garden dubbed "Eden Reframed."
VPD has been working to develop preliminary planting, trail and skate park plans for B.A.R.C. Park stewards have provided input for the three major anchor points of the park -- the skate park, BMX track, and frisbee (disc) golf course. Park Commissioners have approved the design, and final plans are currently being used to seek funding that will implement the Master Plan.
