B.A.R.C. is one of the Park District's most unique properties, and it's improving all the time with the help of a team of volunteer stewards. The Park District hopes to turn B.A.R.C. into "THE" alternative park for all. The Master Plan tells most of the story, including plans for additional outdoor skate features, an improved disc golf course, and improved BMX bike trails. That said, the Burton Adventure Recreation Center is impressive as it stands with an indoor inline skating facility, an outdoor skate bowl, a disc golf course, and a challenging trail system for BMX bike enthusiasts in addition to a community garden dubbed "Eden Reframed."
VPD has been working to develop preliminary planting, trail, and skate park plans for B.A.R.C. Park stewards have provided input for the three major anchor points of the park -- the skate park, BMX track, and frisbee (disc) golf course. Park Commissioners have approved the design, and final plans are currently being used to seek funding that will implement the Master Plan. Click here to see the preliminary planting plan associated with the B.A.R.C. layout.
You too can help create Vashon's most unique alternative park. Join the B.A.R.C. stewards. To become a BARC Steward or receive email news about the park, please contact the Vashon Park District at info@vashonparks.org.
