Get Ready for the 2024 Ski School Bus to the Summit at Snoqualmie!
Are you ready for an exciting winter adventure? The Vashon Park District is thrilled to announce the start of the 2024 Ski School Bus to the Summit at Snoqualmie! Whether you're a seasoned skier or a beginner, this program offers a convenient and fun way to hit the slopes. Get all the details you need in this Ski School Bus FAQ Sheet.
Is the Ski School Bus Fee All-Inclusive? No, the Ski School bus fee covers transportation and ferry costs (where applicable) only, totaling $225. Participants are responsible for purchasing their own lift tickets, lessons, and gear.
Lessons with Ski Masters: Ski Masters offers discounted ski lessons to registered bus participants. Don't miss out – lesson spaces are limited and fill up quickly. Be sure to register before September 5th to secure your spot. You'll receive lesson codes once you've registered for the bus.
Lift Tickets: Lift tickets are a must for a day on the slopes. While the Summit at Snoqualmie offers various options, it's recommended to opt for the season LTD pass for convenience. Make sure to purchase your lift tickets online before heading to the Summit, as they tend to sell out.
Supervision and Safety: Please note that the Ski School bus can only provide direct supervision during the journey. While skiing, participants are encouraged to ski with a friend and have their devices charged using the available phone chargers on the bus. Ensure they have the necessary contact numbers for safety.
Single Trips and Lifts: Individual trips are available for $40 + tax, providing flexibility for those who can't commit to the entire program. For lift access, the Summit mid-morning arrival is your starting point. Purchase season passes or single lift tickets online beforehand.
Ski School Schedule: Mark your calendars for the following Saturdays: January 6, 13, 20, 27, and February 3, 10. Plus, there's a makeup trip on March 2, 2024, if needed.
All times subject to change
Departure Details:
Gear Rental: Participants need to provide their own equipment. Consider options like The Summit at Snoqualmie's rentals or Mountain to Sound Outfitters. Vashon Ski School participants receive a 10% discount on seasonal rentals at Mountain to Sound Outfitters - be sure to show them your Vashon Park District sales receipt for the discount on rentals.
Chaperone and Riding Options: Students can ride home with friends only if written permission is provided by a parent or guardian. Chaperones have the final say, and any unauthorized departure may lead to expulsion.
Safety and COVID-19 Measures: Stay home if you're feeling unwell. If you're exposed to COVID-19 or test positive, inform the organizers immediately. Follow Washington State's guidelines for isolation and quarantine.
Stay Informed: Check Summit's website for slope conditions, and get real-time updates before heading out.
Operator and Chaperone Opportunities: The bus is operated by First Student, the same company serving the Vashon Island School District. Want to ride with your child or be a chaperone? Find out more by contacting Eric Wyatt at (206) 463-9602 or ewyatt@vashonparks.org.
