The show features mostly instrumental nylon-guitar driven music, influenced by such artists as the Gipsy Kings and Yanni. A guest vocalist will also be making a special guest appearance.
“If it isn’t beautiful, it doesn’t make the cut,” says lead guitarists and co-founder, George Stevens. “We want to put on a show that really moves people, that gives them a feeling they can’t get anywhere else,” Stevens says. Co-founder and producer/bassist Johnny Bacolas continues, “we wanted to create a show that we would love to see, and get chills while watching and listening to. That hasn’t happened to me in a long time. I feel we've accomplished that with this spectacular show.” “Two words to describe our show and music? Passionate and Beautiful,” says Bacolas.
Opening for The Rumba Kings is Vashon local Alex Amundson. Alex is a twenty-three-year-old artist from Texas, who since leaving home at the age of eighteen has pursued music across America. Spending nearly three years in California before moving to Washington he formed the band American Slang, an electric-acoustic act with roots in Americana music. When not gigging, he spent time working and recording at historic Valentine Recording Studios in Laurel Canyon learning the subtleties and pace of analog workflow on old world equipment. Never enjoying the crushing hustle of the big city, the outbreak of COVID-19 justified more than enough reason to escape Los Angeles. For the moment he calls the quaint island of Vashon off the coast of Seattle, WA his home and spends his days studying music, homesteading, and restoring a 46 foot wooden sailboat named “Aloha''.
